Each of the across clues, except 23, has been doctored by the omission of one ‘C’ at some point; the full answer is to be entered in each case. Numbers following clues indicate the length of grid entries throughout. Competitors should submit with their entries a clue to 23 (which must be deduced) in the style of the other across clues. NB Preference will be given to clues that make some sense with and without the extra ‘C’.
