COMMENTS:—Views varied as to whether screenings are the dust which has passed through or the bits which were too big. Presumably, either might be true in different circumstances, so both views were accepted. Two unsuccessful clues are worth quoting for the excellence of their ideas:—(1) “A hundred sneer and sign, the rest refuse.” A pleasing picture, but the anag. is not indicated, and why “the rest”? (2) “The part which is not greater than the hole mixes gins behind the curtain.” The first half is very clever, but the second does not blend with it.
